I don't want to work it out. I am disabled and I have been raiseing her youngest daughter for her for the past four years. Tonight she got mad because I told her she needed to meet me tomorrow to get her daughter so I can have a test I need done badly , well she showed up at my house tonight started yelling when I asked her to leave she slappled me with her fist across my face and knocked me down and started kicking me. Till my husband came in with her child from the store and made her quit. She's ungreatful and I have had more than I can take. I am due for surgery on my neck Nov.8th ruptured disk in my neck and back. I am in pain as I type. so you think I should still work it out??

I think that what she did is terrible. You have spent all these years raising "her" child and are disabled and she has the nerve to slap you?? No, you can't divorce her, but you really do need to set some boundaries and tell her no more abuse because she sure isn't very respectful to someone who not only raised her, but her daughter as well. I think maybe you and your husband should sit down and talk to her about how that just will not be tolerated in your home and that she should be thanking her lucky stars that she has had parents who would even take in her own daughter to raise. I think that is just terrible! I'm so sorry for you and good luck to you.

If she is 18+ you can kick her out.
You cannot be best friends with your children... you can be their ally, but not a friend.
You have to be the parent, which means you must use every method at your disposal to instill the values in your children that will help them to be successful in life. They cannot navigate our society without morals, ethics, responsibility and respect.
If that means instilling respect by means of a well aimed slap on the face or a doubled-up belt across their behinds, then so be it. If you have to take away prized possessions (computer, I-pod, video game), or ground them, that is fine. You do what you must to get the point across.
You provide for all of their needs, so while they are under your roof, the kids must obey your rules. They must go to school, keep their grades up, do their homework, pick up after themselves and do whatever chores you ask of them. If they will not comply, the door is that-a-way. You have to handle any insurrections hard and fast.
Your new mantra is, “If the mama ain’t happy, then NOBODY is happy.” The mama is the ultimate authority. You must step into your power as such.

I have heard of people divorcing their children and parents before.
She sounds like she has serious problems to resort to physical violence.
You should get your husband to talk to her about this. If you mind your grandchild, then make sure yr hubby is home when she comes to pick her up, to avoid confronttation with your daughter.
She needs to show more respect or she needs to hire a babysitter.

Nope you can't divorce your child, but she can divorce you, as a parent, it's call emancipation. You may feel that emotion now, but you don't want to do that, reverse those angry thought, and shower your daughter with love. Good Luck....

She has been your daughter since day one...Why would you want to divorce her?? Mothers never know when to divorce them so you should take some notes from other mothers.

No you cannot. You can, however, have her arrested for assault and battery, file suit for elder abuse, and file for sole custody of your grand child.
