A street is at an inclination of 38 degrees with respect to the horizontal. a wooden crate has a mass of 25 kg and is placed on this street. a force of 59 N must be applied to crate perpendicular to the pavement in order to hold crate. coefficient of static friction between crate and pavement is 0.599. what's the magnitude of the frictional force?

HELP! haha...

The force pulling the crate down slope is
sin(38)*9.81*25
151 N
The frictional force must be equal to this since the crate is static.

Let's check to see if 59 N is the right perpendicular force to achieve it

the normal force is
25*9.81*cos(38)+59
252 N

The frictional force is
252*0.599
151 N, yes it checks

The correct answer may be -151 N depending if magnitude or magnitude and direction parallel to the surface are required.
