im putting a tachometer in my 98 cavalier and wondering where the distributer is and how u would hook it up to it. be serious and plz try and explain with detail

nope not one there, it will connet to the 1cy coil pack, the coil pack sould have 4 wires going to it, you need to look in a book for the wiring deagram, as they are color coded, one wire is a power suply and the other three are for the computer and it tells what one to fire, each wire with fire two plugs as in 1&4 3&6 5&2 each of those will fire at that same time, and the book will show you.

If I remember correctly... There is no distributor. The 6 cyl fires off a computer map linked to a crank sensor. It's in the back of the block. They seem to go out sometimes. Hard to remove, easy to replace. Don't know how to install a tach.

Don't make no difference, tach connects to negative coil terminal. Diagram should come with tach.
