As the others said.. from this list San Fran is the way to go.
However, id you end up in Sherman Oaks, its in the heart of the san fernando valley (LA) and right over the hill (15 mins or so) is West Hollywood... there is a large homosexual population there.

Of all the cities in California, I've always heard it is San Fran.
that has the largest gay community. There are also trans gen-
ders and transvestites, every possible sexual group there is.
I only visited, never having lived there. And I saw that some
men were openly wierd on the streets. Dressing like women
but yet obvious that they weren't. I guess anything goes there
from things I've read in the media.
I used to have a gay friend in Arizona who moved from Frisco. He left due to a big earthquake many years before. But he felt out of place in Phoenix and regretted
leaving San Fransisco. He felt it was home.

San Francisco is a gay mecca, but it's pricey to live there. Still, if homosexual tolerance is your primary criteria, then SF it is.
