If cared for properly, they live indefinitely. They can do this because one of they ways the reproduce is to divide by splitting.

The reasons most anemones die in aquaria are because they don't have high enough lighting over the tank to meet their needs (they need at a minimum compact fluorescent lighting, and some with more intense lighting needs might require a metal halide). The brighter lighting means warmer water temperatures, but they can't tolerate prolonged temperatures above 84o, so this almost requires a chiller if the tank isn't in a room with good cooloing/air conditioning. The also don't tolerate poor water quality, and even though they get some of their food from photosynthesis (because of photosynthetic algae in their cells), they do need to be fed as well.

The reason their deaths cause other organisms in the tank to die is because anything that dies in the tank releases ammonia - not just anemones, but fish, invertebrates, plants, etc. If you provide for the needs of the anemone, and keep a close eye on it, it shouldn't die "unnoticed", but you should see a decline in its health, and be able to remove it if necessary.

You can usually tell when they aren't doing well because the size shrinks, they can get darker in color, and the tentacles aren't expanded, but drawn close in toward the mouth (you see something similar in the position when the lights are out or after they just fed - when you see this at other times is when the amemone isn't doing well).

What length tank do you have? What approximately filtration? How often is the tank wiped sparkling? the common or comet goldfish get huge. Over a foot long from time to time, in addition they require a minimum of a fifty 5 gallon tank for one. for 2 you would be finding at a minimum of a 80 gallon tank. in addition they choose great filtration...say double the tank length. there are a number of aspects. puppy shop fish in simple terms are not as healthful in maximum situations. Sorry approximately your fish :]
