He will either wait a week, or set up a date for induction.
My doctor doesn't like to go over 41 weeks (thank goodness!) because you're never 100% that your dates are correct, and at 42 weeks, the placenta is deteriorating.
Stress that not only are you dire need of having this baby, but that you would prefer not to wait for safety reasons as well. Good luck!

It's not about whether you are ready, but when the baby is ready! The doctor will probably do a fetal stress test and an unltrasound to see how much fluid is still surrounding the baby. If all is well he may say give it one more week. If the baby has not dropped you may not be dilated more, but when it does drop it will help the process along. Keep walking and getting as much exercise as you can tolerate.
Induction is painful from the get go. No building up of contraction strength or pain, it is bam and here come the contractions full force. It was not something I wanted so I waited! My first was 4 days late, my second was 3 days late, my 3rd was (gulp) 12 days late and my 4th was 1 week early!
(I did have a baby after my 1st one at 28 weeks that was stillborn and they had to induce me, that's how I know how the induction process works and it was painful. I had natural births until the last one and asked for an epidural. Made labor and delivery a snap, but I suffered from headaches and backaches for months afterward and would not do it again)
Congrats on the new baby to be! I wish you short labor and a healthy baby!

I'm sure you are tired of being pregnant, but rest assured the baby will come when it's ready. I think it's healthier that way anyway. A baby is considered full term anywhere from 38 to 42 weeks. Most doctors won't let you get past the 42 week point. On the same hand, the docor probably won't induce you unless there is some concern about the baby's health and/or your health. My doctor told me that if we get to our due date and still don't have the baby, then we will start appointments every 2 or 3 days, have an ultrasound to check for fluid around the baby, etc. Good luck, hopefully the baby will come on it's own, soon!!

Well, usually they'll test to see if there is anything wrong with the pregnancy, if you're in the clear he just might let you go on for a few more weeks (that is if you're dilating properly). Otherwise, he might induce your labor. However, although 40 weeks is a full term baby, it's only about 9 1/2 months, not even ten yet. There are many different possibilities. It just depends on your doctor and how he likes to do things. If there is not problem then I'm assuming that he might have you wait a while. I'm not OB/GYN though so I wouldn't know for 100%!
By the way, you can do some power walking and that usually helps with the labor. Also, having sex is supposed to make the labor happen faster.

Just talk to your doc that you can't take it anymore. He will probably say that you should go into labor soon, and everything will be fine, but make sure you tell him how uncomfortable you are. You know, how you can't breathe or sleep or bend over, or even wipe yourself after going to the bathroom! If he doesn't give any hints of inducing you, ask when the first appointment for being induced would be. Ask if you can get induced within the next day or two. It's worth a shot!

At 40 weeks your doctor can go either way.......send you home or induce you in the hospital.
It will depend on some things. For instance if the baby is still up high and not dropping - the doc might hesitate with inducing you. It also depends on the size of the baby also.
The doctor might break your water, once he does that you need to deliver within 12 hours. Inducment give you powerful contractions.
Hang in there. Once you have your beautiful baby in your arms you will forget how anxious you were to get this over with.

I had a great attempt, and an ultrasound to work out how a techniques alongside i replaced into at 9 weeks. (My classes have been relatively tousled) Then each and every 4 weeks I had an appointment, and one million ultrasound at 20 weeks with my youngest. till now that it replaced right into a great attempt, in to substantiate and appointments each and every 4 weeks. Ultrasound at 20 weeks or so. If theres no genuine scientific reason to grant extra desirable than one ultrasound, Dr's do no longer around here.

Have you started contracting?
Stress to the doctor that you are ready to deliver!! No other way. You will probably be induced; they'll break your water and/or you'll be given a drip to boost your contraction. Either way, ask your doc to give you option that is safest for your baby.
Good luck :)

Tell your doctor "I am ready for delivery!!" They may do a stress test to see if the baby is ready to be induced. Good luck!

tell him you're exhausted and you can't sleep. a lot of docs are pretty sympathetic to those complaints. otherwise, start trying to induce labor on your own. there are lots of ways to try. The one that worked for me when i was a week overdue was walking on the beach in the dry sand. its pretty strenuous, especially when you're that far along.
Good luck!
