google earth is great, but.........theres a lot more out there

I like this one. its cool because it browses multiple databases and is much faster in most aspects
http://www.flashearth.com/

if you cycle through the DBs then you can watch areas go through construction and grow over time.

I've moved on to web pages instead of a program I must install and open each time (it takes a while to load) try their maps page
http://maps.google.com/
be sure to click on "satelitte" or "hybrid" on the right of the map
(oh and be sure to check out "street view" too - very cool)
a little video on how http://maps.google.com/help/maps/streetview/

http://maps.ask.com/maps

naw, http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ is OLD and boring. easy to get lost. Try an upgrade with Microsoft Virtual Earth
http://www.microsoft.com/virtualearth/
or is it here.
http://maps.live.com/ (click the 3d button on the map)

and we have a nice little look at the world with NASA's version too
http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/

oh and here's a new way to look at the world.
check it.
http://labs.live.com/photosynth/
instead of satillite pics and a birds eye view, we use random photographs "tourist" take and share on the net.

still in the works, but worth a look.

so, good luck with all that. it all works (nasa's not really for looking for streets)

Google Sky for looking at the stars, and Google Earth for looking at the Earth. Both require installation of their software. However, you can go to either Yahoo Maps or Google Maps and click on the "Hybrid" or "Satellite" links to display a relatively current satellite image of the Earth's surface.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

I think what you are looking for is:
http://terraserver.microsoft.com/
You can enter addresses online there.
Another site that provides satellite images is:
http://earth.google.com/earth.html
Only that you need to download and install Google Earth.
