I would not go into a partnership on any long term business venture. When you say a fish business do you mean seafood or aquarium fish?

You will ruin your friendship. One of you will think they are the head of the company and the other should keep quiet.
Equal money doesn't equal equal time, effort or skills.
A fish business is a great money maker but you can lose your shirt if you don't have the experience.
One family had a fish market then when the father retired two boys took over. One boy's son was in the family business as an employee. The men got old and one wanted his son to get his share, the brother wanted his son to get his share but his son didn't know anything about being a fish monger.
They let him start working and tried to teach him but he cost them a lot of money learning the ropes.
To buy fish you have to understand the balance between price, quality and customer demand buy too much and you have waste, don't buy enough and you turn away customers.
Even as family they had problems how much more with friends.
