Lol

Pretty much everyone in England refers to Amsterdam as Dam.

To draw a comparison many english people refer too Liverpool as the Pool. There are many other English places with pool in their name. We manage to not get confused or offended by it.

Now let me think:-
Do you mean Rotterdam, Volendam, Maduradam, Zwammerdam, Monnickendam, Obdam, Amsterdam or even Edam, or indeed many other 'dam' places?
If you are from the U.K. (for instance) would you ask if anyone was going to 'ham' around 15th/ 16th Nov. No? Thought not!

Why not give it the correct name???
