If you are traveling and want to sleep in your car rather than getting a hotel room, you can stop at a truck stop and no one will bother you! If you are in a major city, it is going to be harder to find a safe, legal place to sleep. You may look at a 24 hour parking garage, or a quiet side street, but neither is going to be really safe! If you have a van or camper where you can sleep out of sight, you will be better off than if you are sleeping in view of passerby!

You might also check with a church to see if they will allow you to park and sleep on their lot!

Good luck

most parking lots are private property, most cities it is illegal to sleep in car, but the will probably just tell you to move. you might be able to do it at a 24 hr store that has alot of business ie. WalMart lets trucks and campers spend the night in their lots

Most state-supported relaxation stops have an discipline targeted for truckers to park and "spend the night time", so I do not know why an person might't park at a kind of relaxation stops and "spend the night time". Find a relaxation quit wherein truckers are parking for the night time, and park there. The freeway patrol or regional police might patrol the relaxation discipline; and, in the event that they notice your vehicle there for greater than 8 hours, might ask you for identity. Show them your identity, auto registration, vehicle coverage verification, and inform them you could not find the money for to stick at a inn/resort. Unless you will have a crook list, or exquisite warrants, I doubt you are going to have any challenge.
