Give them a nice back massage, do the dishes, cook for them, babysit their children while they go have a little fun, tidy up the garden for them, look after their pet when they go on vacation, take them on a cruise with you, give them gift cards to their favorite restaurants and department stores, give them a gift certificate for a day at the spa, wash their car for them, help them shovel their snow, mow their lawn for them, pick something up from the grocery store for them while you're out, and invite them over to your house for dinner or a movie night!

Send a card for no special occasion. They have lots of "Thinking of You" and even blank cards.

Give little gifts between holidays. Even an item that costs $1-$2 but means something to that friend can make him/her happy.

Smile and say, "Thank you" when people least expect it~the checkout person at a store; someone who opened or held a door for you; and any other moment you know would be right for it. Even when I feel grouchy and achy, I still try to do this, especially for whoever is called to help me carry out packages at Wal-Mart.

If you see someone drop something, take the time to pick it up and give it to the person. I am so grateful when people help me when I'm shopping, especially when they didn't have to bother with me.

Just something as simple as opening a door for them is nice to do. Often a big smile at a total stranger will brighten up someone's bad day, also. It has helped me many times when I have been really down in the dumps or when someone has been mean to me.
