The same place I put the thumbs up, but I can't say it because I don't want a violation.

It really depends on the situation and the structure of the sentence and whether it's a contraction or a possessive noun. It also depends on if it is a singular or a plural. There are so many possibilities.
For example:
1.Ben's truck is red with a silver skull on the hood.
2.The trucks' windows were all tinted purple even though five of them were red and the others were white.
3. Kamisha can't come to the phone 'cause Betty's toenails aren't dry.
4. "It's a dog eat dog world out there and one day, you're just going to learn to adjust", said her Aunt.
5. She's not the brightest light bulb in the elevator and her knees don't shine in light on the bricks' roof.
I think I may have covered all the examples, if I left one or two out, my apologies.

There are two different types of apostrophies. One type is used to show where letters are missing, as in: they're, meaning they are. It is placed where the a from are is missing. It can also indicate that more than one letter is missing, as in they've, where the h and the a from the word have are missing.
The other is the possessive apostrope as in buildings windows meaning the windows belonging to the building. It goes after building and before the s. If you are talking about more than one of something, e.g. the buildings windows, meaning more than one building, it would go after the s in buildings.

if it is singular you put it between the last letter and the s like if you say nick's bike because you are talking about one bike. if it is plural you put it after the s like all the bikes'. and if it is a contraction you put the apostrophe where the missing letter is like didn't means did not but your taking out the "o" in not so its didn't.

If it's a simple plural, I don't put it anywhere. If it's a contraction, I put it where the missing letter would be and if I'm denoting ownership of something, I put it after the word and before the 's'.
