Help with Resident Evil 4!?

Question

I just got the game and I'm on the part where you're suposed to go through the gate behind the village and there are a bunch of people in front of the village. Even when I kill a lot of people I loose all my ammo and when I get to the gate it wont open! How do I get through?

If you give a good answer then I'll chose you as best answer.

It's the first time you use your binoculars but I don't know what to do with them.

Ah, you are talking about the Village Fight.

There are two ways to get past this: 1. Kill a certain number of enemies (I think it is 14) or 2. Survive for 5 minutes.

If you just want to sruvive, run to the tower on the far side of the village and climb it. Shoot any enemy that gets near the top of the ladder. Eventually, they will set fire to the tower and stop climbing up. The fire will drain your health, but cannot kill you, so just wait out the timer.

The fun way is to fight, and I'll walk you through the easiest way to do that.

First, take the path to the left behind the buildings, and you'll find a lone woman working away. Attack her (kill her if you want, or just keep her stunned with shots to the face). When others come around (usually the first one to get to you will be on the roof of the third building with an axe), continue to run behind the buildings and then climb the tower. Grab the shotgun ammo and hop back down, then run into the last building you ran behind. This will trigger a cutscene with a Dr. Salvador (chainsaw guy).

When the scene ends, run upstairs, grab the shotgun, run to the far window, and throw the ladder down. then turn back to the other window and blast the enemies away from it with one hit from the shotty. Then hop out the window and if need be fire another shot at any enemy about to get you. Turn about 70 degrees left and hop off the roof, then run across the middle of the village to the one house on the other side you can go into.

Inside here, you will find a metal door in the back. Knock the lock off (the knife works fine for this) and go inside. One of the containers in here has more shotgun ammo, so break them open and grab it.

You might notice that you are now trapped with a horde of enemies after you, one of whom has a chainsaw. This sounds like a bad deal, but in fact it is good. Position yourself square with the door, fairly close to it, with shotgun at the ready around chest level. When the door opens, pull the trigger once, watch them all fly back, and the door closes. Repeat as needed. Don't wait till the shotgun is empty to reload, but don't do it every time you fire either.

Provided you are standing close to the door, you should get about 2 kills per shot on average, which will leave you with shotgun ammo to spare, plus you barely touched your handgun, and there's plenty of stuff around the village to grab afterwards.

I agree, that is vague. Before you can get thru the gate by the little windmill, you do need to get Ashley. There's a path, not far from it, that'll take you to a gate you can get thru. Be careful, there's going to be a boulder crashing after you, a la Indiana Jones, and you'll have to button mash to sprint, and dodge it. Be cautious in the next area as well, there'll be dynamite throwers, and bear traps. As for the ammo, don't sweat it. Not everyone you kill drops ammo. There's plenty available if you look around. That's pretty vague. I think you might be referring to the gate where you need ashley's help. You'll first need to go to the church and rescue ashley. You can boost her over the gate.
I hope it's the right gate.
