Don't be embarassed...your dad knows about womanly things too. Every girl goes through it and he know you will too eventually. You could tell him, write it down on a piece of paper and give it to him, or the next time you go to wal-mart drop some pads or tampons in the cart.

Aw you poor thing. I was in the same situation as you when I was 12. I lived with my dad and brother. I started my period and just told him straight up.. "Dad I think I need pads" and then he asked why... and I just told him. I know it is hard to have that kind of conversation but you will feel alot happier afterward. It will be ok!

A coworker had a little girl and while he was driving she said I started my period. He said he almost drove off the road but she said not right now I just thought you would want to know.
She had already probably told her mom but could talk to dad about anything.
I would just tell him "dad, we need to talk" then explain you are maturing and are hitting puberty. If he is too shy for you to talk to ask him if he can ask a women friend or relative or the school nurse to talk to you.
You will need money for supplies and perhaps information and will start needing a bra if you don't now.
I hope you can talk to your dad but if not select an aunt or someone to help you.

Just say:

Dad?, I need 5 dollars to buy some personal items from the store. He will probably get a clue. If he asks what you need specifically, just tell him. Dads know all about these things. Just do it when your brother isn't around. He doesn't need to know.

Relax will you? Dad's know about periods. It is nothing new. he probably is wondering when you will approach him about it. He probably feels equally awkward. So do yourself a favor and telly our dad. I'm sure he'll be of help. There's no need to be embarrassed. He's your dad not a stranger.

I had the same problem, my mom died 2 years ago, and I have 2 YOUNGER sisters, and 1 older brother. I am closer to my brother than my dad so I told him and he went shopping with me. He really wanted to help me! I love my brother. And then my brother told my dad so I didn't have to.

when i told my dad, i just said i needed "girl things" and he understood and i got what i needed. now every time i need some girl stuff i just say the same thing. if your dad happens to be clueless even after that, tell him that you need personal girl stuff and hopefully he'll get it. good luck.

Um... why do you have to tell them?

Isn't that stuff private?
