allegedly basicly means "according to another source aka word on the street or popular public opinion" its not proven factually or founded, its more like hearsay.
an example is OJ Simpson "ALLEGEDLY" conspired to kill his wife nicole. or Michael Jackson is "ALLEGEDLY" gay or a child molestor.

It means that someone has made an "allegation" or accusation against someone else, but it has not been proven yet.
Allegedly is another way of saying "supposedly."
Example: The boy allegedly stole the candy bar from the grocery store.

An alleged burglar is someone who has been accused of being a burglar but against whom no charges have been proved. An alleged incident is an event that is said to have taken place but has not yet been verified. In their zeal to protect the rights of the accused, newspapers and law enforcement officials sometimes misuse alleged. Someone arrested for murder may be only an alleged murderer, for example, but is a real, not an alleged, suspect in that his or her status as a suspect is not in doubt. Similarly, if the money from a safe is known to have been stolen and not merely mislaid, then we may safely speak of a theft without having to qualify our description with alleged.

I can't give you a dictionary definition, but I use the word when I say that something may have occured.
example: The dog allegedly bit him
It doesn't mean that the dog actually bit him, he may have. The facts aren't all in.

If something is alleged then it hasn't been confirmed as true. A criminal allegedly robbed a bank, he is suspected but it hasn't been proven yet.
