I remember last season when everyone began counting out the Colts as a superbowl contender. It was always about their rush defense. Well, this year their defense has greatly improved! They have always ranked high (2nd) against the pass. But this year they are doing well against the rush and the pass! One of the differences is Freddy Keiaho! He is the guy who took Cato June's spot at linebacker. Keiaho is a serious force to be reckoned with! If you remember the game the Colts played against the Saints, He played flawless in that game! He is excellent against the run, and great against the pass as well! I hate to say it; but I think the Colts are better without Cato June, Nick Harper, and Jason David! When you have hard hitters like Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden, Freddy Keiaho, and Bob Sanders, I would say that you have an elite defensive unit! Not to mention Dwight Freeney! These guys may be small, But they are extremely quick and cover very very well!

Why are you so defensive? Its not my fault the Colts beat the Pats the last 4 times they played them! I just asked a simple question.

Not really. I think they're still unproven. They've only played one team that averages over 20 pts a game and that was the texans. So its not like they've shut down some power houses or anything.

But, lets put this into perspective with the patriots. Last year the colts D shutdown the pats O in the second half and the Pats D had trouble covering dallas clark who had some key receptions that game. talking afc championship game. In the off-season the pats answered those "flaws" with moss, stallworth, welker, and Adalius thomas. Since the teams haven't played each other yet you can only go with what you have on paper and what has occurred thus far. The pats have the #1 offense and #2 defense. The colts aren't far behind, but they are behind #3 and #5, again, thus far. There are 11 more weeks left in the season, a lot can happen.

The reason is that they are overshadowed by Payton Manning. He's the one that everyone knows and that we see on all the comercials. When people talk about the Colts chances are it will be about what Manning is doing (on and off the field).

But dont worry one bit. As soon as playoff time rolls around, if the Colts D is still blasting along, people will start talking. We all know defence wins championships in the sport of football. Also people who know about the sport DO reallize that the defence is playing well, they are (as always) half the reason why the team is undefeated.

Good or Bad, star players are going to recieve the spotlight. Real fans know, though, that if any team is going to do well the defence needs to shine through - especially come time for playoffs.

Keep your ears open too, I bet you will start to hear things about the Colts defense sooner rather than later. There are enough discussions on pro football that some annalyst or another (probably Schleayer or Clayton or somebody like that) will point out just what you have. Basically, how killer the Colts defense has become under coach Dungy and as defending Super Bowl champs.

Also people seem to overlook the Colts in favour of the Patriots and the season they are having.

Boo-Hoo we lost Boo-Hoo. Dude that's what you're little rant incredibly sounds like it comes right down to to me. you've been greater useful sticking just to the orginal question. you like the Colts D to get some appreciate? Then get the attention way from "golden-boy" Manning. He gets all the attention on the group. If the Colts gained 21-0 then all the attention could be that they have been given the 21 from "Golden-Boy" and not one of the attention could be on the indisputable fact that it became right into a particular-OUT. that's what happens once you have a action picture star poster-boy of the NFL.

your point is well taken but keep in mind they are still allowing 4.2 ypc. I think that 11th worst in the league. Plus Bob Sanders has more sacks than the overrated Freeney so he is the real key to the defense. Freeney has 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks and 1 solo tackle. If he can't sack the QB which he hasn't been able to do in over a year, he isn't a much of a difference maker.

The Colts have to play a real team, with a real offense. Manning gets happy feet when he's being rushed and their DB's are small. Let's see when San Diego rolls into town with some 6'5" receivers, LT, Gates, Turner (who scorched them last tiem for an 85 yard TD run)and a monster defense.

the whole Colts team deserves more respect than they're getting..the Pats go crazy in the offseason and pick up some more talent to add to the team and all of a sudden they're the best team in football..Colts are undefeated too and are still the defending SB and AFC champs but it seems like no one cares about any of that

they deserve a lot more respect being a 5-0 team, but you really dont hear about them...i think dungy likes it that way, a lot of stress is gone when the cameras and press arent all over you (excluding peyton)...their deffense has made huge strides, and their offense, well it speaks for itself...they are a great team and deserve a lot more than they are getting...this is coming from a cowboys fan
