There are so many good ones, I don't know if I could pick a favorite. Here are the ones that really stand out to me:
Eyes of the Dragon
The Shining
Gerald's Game
The Green Mile
The Mist - short story in Skeleton Crew
The Stand - the complete version
Autopsy Room Four - short story in Everything's Eventual
If you're really interested in reading his books I would recommend you start with some of the short story collections or the early books (Carrie, Christine, etc). Some of the more recent ones like From a Buick 8 were very disappointing.
The Dark Tower series has good individual books - Wizards and Glass, Wolves of the Calla - but taken as a whole it's kind of disappointing.
Only a few of the movies based on his books have done justice to the books. The Green Mile is probably the best. Also worth a look are The Shining (Stanley Kubrick's version), The Shawshank Redemption, Carrie, and Misery.

My favorite is "The Stand". It is a very long book, first published in 1978. It is about a super flu that wipes out most of the population & the good vs. evil battle between the survivors. I have read several reviews that state that this is one of his best works. I really enjoyed it & have read it several times.

Insomnia's a good one. I have to say, though, that Eye of the Dragon and the Dark Tower cycle are my favorites.

Start with Salem's Lot and you'll be a fan for life.
Make sure you also read The Green Mile. It's much different than his horror stuff, like 'magical realism.' So good.

"Cell" didn't impress me either, it seemed like a bad remake of "The Stand." "Cujo" is good, because a lot of the book is written from the dog's point of view. "Stand By Me," "Misery," "Christine," "Carrie,"and any other of his older books are terrific.
