Three weeks ago I bought a 2004 Stratus sxt with 20,000 miles on it, about a dozen or so times now, i will be driving and the car will stall out at red light, i will come to a stop the rpms will bounce up a little bit and then it just shuts off and the oil light comes on, i think it might be the 2.7 problems they have been having, any suggestions?

it is not an internal engine problem. like jackolantern said, start by cleaning the carbon from the throttle body. if that doesn't do it, take it to a dealer. there may be a software update for an idle undershoot. alot of them did. it could be the idle air control motor or tps. also don't be scared of the 2.7 if you take care of it. the 2.7's in the stratus will live at least double what the intrepids do. its the same engine, but the stratus front end design is tons better at removing underhood heat. the high heat is what causes the sludge. i can't remember how many of these i've put in intrepids, but i've only ever put 2 in a stratus, and they were both abused cars that got 15-20000 mile oil changes. the last one i did had 150000 on it, and it finally locked when they ran it out of coolant.

call the hot-line 1-800-997-1992. with that kind of mileage you may still have powertrain (if you didnt buy from a dealer you may have to pay a transfer fee) chrysler will tell you to take to a dealer and have it diagnosed. but i would still call them first. most of those engines go around 70k but if the oil was never or seldom changed it could be the issue. after its fixed use synthetic oil ,it helps

Try cleaning the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. If that doesn't help, you will need to take it in and have it checked out.

what do you need to know about it,i can tell you this much ,they did cause a lot of problems for some people and they had a problem of creating sludge in them, really bad,bad enough to clog the oil pump pick up tube up,and make them loose oil pressure, wish i knew what you needed to know for sure, good luck with it.
