Why does everyone think Gays are gross? I'm not gay or lesbian, but I'm not against them or anything. My friend thinks they're absolutely gross, and I don't get that.

I don't really understand gays, but I get it, they are who they are, and that's how things go.

What do you all think? *I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything, I'm really really sorry if I did*

Kk-- firstly, I don't mean everyone, I mean lots of people, like everyone I know. Secondly I said I'm sorry if I offended anyone, because I realize that chances run I'm going 2 offend someone, and I want them to know it's unintentional, but I didn't know how to put my question any other way.

If I sound snappy right now, I'm sorry about that too, lol, life seems to be falling for me right now...

Anyway, thx to everyone who answered...

Probably because people don't understand. When people actually take the time to get to know one of us, it usually changes their opinion, but not always. Sometimes it seems like people will never learn, but I try to stay optimistic.

People think negatively towards gays because they do not understand what it means exactly, or they could be homophobic and be afraid of them.

Gay men are stereotyped to be more clean than straight men because they care more about hygiene and might be clean-shaven and more feminine in those ways.

Your friend might be characterizing their actions or relations as gross, but in all honesty there is no difference between a relationship between a man and a woman and one between 2 men or 2 women. It is the same "love" and the same emotions towards one another. It is just different and unexpected which throws people off and allows them to make such statements as they're so "gross."

I am iclined to agree with you.Personally I do not advocate this kind of behaviour or lifestyle, but at the same time, I do not have the right to judge or to tell anyone what their sexuality ought to be.I can understand gay peoples concern about how they are viewed and treated, they want to be accepted not really as the label suggests..'gays '.. but as human beings....they do not want to be labeled neccassarily as ' different '.. just as people with an important imput in society too ...but I also realise that they are what they are and have to find a way to deal with society and their attitude, and that must be very exhausting.Yes I do feel what they do 'physically' is gross, but I tend not to dwell on that side, just the fact that, at the end of the day they're human beings with thoughts and emotions, that are just as valuable to society as anyones elses, and their thoughts and feelings should be considered.

I think it's because there are afraid that if they don't think is gross they will be gay. But on the other hand, i'm bi and i'm totally grossed by man on man. I do love a man masturbating. Don't know

People don't be so concerned about what is going on in anyone else's life. Pay attention to your own. Make sure you don't cause suffering for others, however slight. Show compassion for the least of us.

i think many people just want something to be angry about or grossed out about. almost like something to be fussy about -
to me it is so tiresome. i know many gay people and they are just like "straight" people in everyway with the exception of the sexual preference. there are some nice gay people and some not so nice, rich/poor, tall short and so on. there really is no mystery there. so if one is not participating in any intimate relationship with a gay person what is there to be grossed out about??

I find myself to be particularly clean... I shower every morning =]
Boys kissing Boys is hot... really hot. They think it's gross to just be "masculine" (which doesn't make sense since there are tons of masculine gay guys). Some will never understand... and for them, I guess it's easier to hate than accept.

First, please see http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Amu34OKcEb3JgL0quz8Xbgb07BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20071017195704AAJCHrA , "Why must people feel the need to justify that they are not intending to offend us?"

And obviously, "everybody" doesn't think so. You don't. Lots of people don't.

I don't think it's dirty or anything like that. I just don't agree with it. I have friends that are gay though and it doesn't affect my friendship with them.
