Buster was German Shepherd and Weinerhimer. I know check spelling will not have that in their dictionary & I've mislaid mine, rats. Anyway, his mother was one of those gray ghost dogs and the Papa dog was a German Shepherd. He was such a good dog. My dad said Buster wasn't a real police dog, he was a Deputy Dawg.
He had the confirmation of the shepherd and the coloration of the Mama dog. He was a very handsome pooch. And he weighed almost 100 pounds, he was very muscular and very protective. He lived to the ripe old age of 21. Most of our animals seem to have very long lives, probably because they are loved and pampered.

Until now, I have always had mutts. Now I have a yellow lab. He is the best dog I have ever owned. I just love him so much!!! We didn't buy him. He was abused by a family that left him alone in the backyard and never played with him. He was so skinny you could see his ribs. When the man opened the gate for us to see him, Sam took off down the street and never looked back. He still likes to take off whenever he gets a chance. He is a real sweetheart/

I had a German Shepherd that used to be chained up in the yard and if another dog came in our yard, Tippy would break the chain and and attack the dog . one day the police showed up and my mom said he had to "go live in the country". Years later she told us he had to be put to sleep. Then we got a Boston Bullog from the pound named Buddy . He was alone while we were at school and when we came home He had chewed up practically everything that was available. The couches back then were made of excelsior and it was all over the place,so back to the pound he went. Then I got a cat named Whiskers ,no more dogs for us.

My dad was a breeder of mini dachshunds. I grew up with many of them and I love them. We did have a variety of other dogs too, I think most of them were purebreds though. As an adult, I have had mostly mutts, but my current dog is a pure black lab. I love them all... pure or mutt.

I grew up with a dachshund named Fritzie. He was a
cross between a miniature dachshund and a full size
dachshund. I have had mutts ever since, including the
one I have now. I don't know what combination he is.
Ours have always been pound puppies. They're the best
kind.

My dog as a kid was a minature poodle. Talk about a 'yappy' dog! She was sweet but the high pitched barking could make you nuts.
In adulthood, we've had a mix of purebreds and "mutts". We loved them all!

As a child, I had several "Heinz 57" dogs. They were well behaved and sweet. Unfortunately, during my childhood, dogs did not live in the house. They were usually in the back yard or associating with other dogs in the neighborhood. As long as they had a tag on their collar stating they had their current rabies shots, it was allowed.
One dog had to be taken away because she bit a child who tried to pet one of her newborn puppies. My parents never picked her up. They just let her go. I had no choice in the matter. It was just done that way then Very sad.

It was actually my sister's dog and it was a mutt. I remember our dad making a dog house so ugly that the dog just stood on it and howled and refused to go inside. Did I mention my dad wasn't much of a carpenter? lol
