It's not that simple. Humans are here to stay, and evolution has run its course as far as humans go. Evolution works as long as physical characteristics are a determinant factor for survival, but now survival is all about how societies develop rather than how the physical form evolves. Physical forms are less of a factor within the enclosure of a modern society and evolution will not determine future of this planet.
Humans are now smart enough to survive past ice ages, global warming etc. I think a better question is what sort of societies humans will have in the far distant future, rather than what the next dominant species is going to be.

Interesting question. I like Elizabeth's answer. But you know there is at least 60 million years between the end of the Mesozoic era (when the dinosaurs are believe to have become extinct) and when humans appeared on earth. Who or what ruled the earth during all that time? And how long will it take after humans become extinct (if we ever do) for the rise of a dominant species? It may be a species that doesn't currently exist on earth now. After all, we didn't exist during the Cretaceous period.
I don't believe evolution has run its course in humans and there are other characteristic that can be important than just physical ones. Nature has alot of surprises in store for us.

While t-rex was in charge, our ancestors were small rodents that lived in the trees. In my mind, because of the rising sea levels, it will probably be either birds or an offshoot of undersea mammals

Thats a very good question and I beleive either robots or aliens will rule the planet, unless it gets destroyed or whatever. I think roaches wont rule the planet because they aren't smart enough and dont have enough ptential to do it
