Does anyone know any laws or health codes in MS that say that a landlord has to fix health hazards in their rental property? We are renting and we have mold which I am having allergic reactions to. They refuse to fix it because it will "cost too much money". We are looking to sue and before we get all that started, we need to know if what they are doing is really illegal. We notified them it was making me sick (like really sick) in july and they refuse to fix it. My doctor has confirmed that this is the cause of my sickness. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The Mississippi Landlord Tenant Act states that a landlord must comply with applicable building codes affecting health and safety. You can go to www.rentlaw.com/mississippi.htm

Your option if a landlord won't make necessary repairs generally is to move. You have good reason to break your lease, save the attorney's fees in case they LL tries to sue for the balance of the lease.
