No a sitting President can not be sued for something that happens while he is in office. The only President to have ever been sued while in office is Bill Clinton, he tried to use his power of executive privilege but that was over turned by the Supreme Court, Bill eventually settled out of court for $850,000 (see first link).

Note to Johnny B:
You are aware that Bill Clinton attacked Iraq in December 1998 aren't you? "Operation Desert Fox" (see second link)
Just though that I would help you pull your head out of the sand so that you don't avoid the real truth (keeping you honest)

Note to Douglas D. Impeachment hearings were held against Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, both were impeached by the House of Representatives and both were acquitted by the Senate (Johnson by a single vote) Richard Nixon resigned from office before impeachment charges were ever filed, though that makes no difference, an ex-president can still be impeached.Oops, sorry they couldn't impeach Nixon President Ford pardoned him

No one can sue the President for carrying out his elected duty. It's a matter of law.
However if the President is caught in a serious lie, he can face impeachement. (basically being fired)
If I remember it right there were impeachment hearings held against Presidents Nixon, & Clinton, but I don't think they directly resulted in the removal of the President from office.

I'm sure they've tried, but I wouldn't waste my time trying to. It would be a futile effort.
Don't you mean "due to a lie" instead of "do to a lie"?
What the hell? Why am I answering a question in this category? I know nothing about law and ethics. Bah!

No.

It would be stupid to do so. Now, if the president KILLED (physically -- took a gun and pointed it at someone -- BANG), then I could see reason to sue IF it wasn't in self defense... but if the president had to take a gun to someone.... more than likely it would be self defense. =) (and have to wonder why the secret service agents didn't shoot the guy first)

You cannot sue a President while he is in office. however you can sue them as soon as they are out of office. but that probably will not hold up in court. I think many people would like to sue this president.

You aren't going to be allowed to sue a sitting president in the US. You will have to wait for him to rejoin private life.
