the Boston Red Sox do not make it to the World Series? Can you imagine the scrambling they would need to do to find information on teams other than the Yankees or Sox? What if the Pats do not make it to the Super Bowl? Would they even bother covering these two events? Considering ESPN's bases everything around those 3 teams....I personally believe the World Series and Super Bowl would be relegated to a small blurb on the bottom of the front page if either of those teams failed to make it.

ESPN is pathetic!

LOL Frizzer....yea...I am pretty certain they favor the New England teams. What confuses me is why they favor Duke basketball also? They are not a New England team. LOL

Good deal...I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks ESPN is pretty dang biased.

This is a funny question, as there's really no sarcasm in it at all; ESPN spends a despicable amount of time covering these three teams. I'm tired of hearing what color Tom Brady's feces is.

They'd have to get a head-start on their NBA coverage, and lord only knows how much their popularity is dwindling. I hate to knock on a pro sports league, but I've noticed the downward trend. Hey, us NHL fans get ribbed about it all the time and ESPN pays it no respect whatsoever anymore, so why not take a shot?

But you're right, ESPN is pathetic, indeed.

I think it should be re-named NESPN, which is what Yankee fans call it. Baseball Tonight has two of the biggest Red Sox homers in Karl Ravetch and Peter Gammons, and ESPN has already proclaimed the Patriots the Super Bowl champs. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that ESPN (or NESPN) is based in Connecticut, which means there are a lot of Boston/New England fans working for it, but they have to be more professional and fair to all the other teams.

I do have to say that they cover the Yankees a lot, but a lot of it is making fun of or ridiculing the Yankees, for example Ravetch had the gall to criticize the Yankees for celebrating the wild card, even though Boston did the same thing every year when they won it. I agree with you 100% that the World Series won't receive much coverage if the Red Sox don't make it. ESPN has barely mentioned the NLCS or the Rockies. Also, if the Patriots don't make it, it will be called the biggest upset in the history of the NFL, and more coverage will be devoted to that than the team that won.

I gave up on ESPN years ago. I used to watch Sportscenter every night, but now it's just a bunch of clowns who crack one-liners, and have to show their support for the Red Sox.

I can't agree with you more. I am a Cleveland fan, and the few times we do make it in to the playoffs regardless of what sport it is in, we get no respect. Especially from the announcers. It makes me sick.
However, from an objective point of view. Boston and NY, and arguably the Pats have some of the largest if not largest fan bases. So from a finanical perspective especially for TV ratings, it only makes sense to push those teams. Also, ESPN is based in Connecticut I believe.

However I did hear a rumor about a memo leaking from TBS after the Division series, that the announcers were not supposed to talk about the Indians, in hopes that it would make it a Yanks/Red Sox ALCS.

You all must really not pay much attention to ESPN if you actually harbor some notion that their policy is to look upon New England sports teams with any type of favor.

Degradation is their most sincerest form of flattery.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm counting down the seconds for SC's latest Buster Olney Yankee update - I hear Buster will be revealing how well Tyler Clippard's friends say Tyler Clippard is dealing with the status of his New York Yankees out of New York.

If Cleveland beats Boston and plays Colorado in the WS, ESPN will televise the games. However, the game announcers and the SportsCenter crew will ignore the game action and Series news and continue to tell us about Joe Torre's job status and who the Red Sox will sign in the off season. Same with the Super Bowl. Game action will be ignored to update us about Tom Brady's girlfriends and their illigitimate children.

I agree, but not only those teams, it's the Upper East Coast teams too. Remember the Rockies had a 15 game winning streak and all they kept talking about was how the Phillies got back to first place and how the Mets blew it!.Even now they find a way to talk about the Yankees, all they talk about is Joe Torre's future! I really don't give a damn about Joe Torre's Job! It's funny how they all talk in lingo too, trying to be hip and quoting rap songs and street related crap.

That's why I check my scores online or catch the local news.

ESPN = East Sports Power Network.

I agree. ESPN is to sports what MTV became to music in the early 90s when they abandoned anything with substance and only focused on the "sexy" things.

ESPN will panic and show highlights of the 1980s Buffalo Bills films...that would be awful.

The producers will drag Berman onto the set to make unfunny quips about the last names of players and scream, "back, back, back" for 15 minutes. ESPN has become a haven for ex-jocks who say nothing and a bunch of wannabe comics with bad hair plugs.

I wouldn't know what they would do, and I would think they have a good idea on all the teams, it is not like this will be either team's last year playing, before they disband, or move to another city.
