well for games i would have to say mario, zelda, megaman, dragon quest and doom
mario IS the most famous game ever everyone know's who mario is. and most people can just pick up super mario bros and play. it's just best game ever made.
zelda becuse it was just revolutionary. it was the 1st game that had built in battery to save the player's game info in the game. also one of the best game ever made.
mega man have made a way to ssave the gamer's info without using the bettery..... well not really. everytime you beat a stage it gave you password so when you turn it off you can just put in the password and pick it up where you left. the best part about this and why it was cooler idea (just an idea... its not really cooler) then zelda. with your password you can go to your friend's house and use his game to pick up and play where you left off in your game.
DQ... well all i need to say is that.... it's the 1st RPG game like it self. hmm it's the father of fintal fantasy... (thats why i said DQ, not FF)
doom. well (i could be wrong but i am SURE that) it's the 1st FPS game ever~~~ .... what else to say?
hmmm what most people say when they say gaming frachises they mean the company.... so even tho i am sure you didnt mean companys im ganna say what comp and whys.
theres few i could say i guess. well 1st of all: nintendo, namco, atari, squaresoft (aka square enix), and lastly sega.. (seeeggaaaaa~~~~)
nintendo... well i dont have to explain why.
namco. well they made some bada$$ arcade/homegames. so of them are galaga, pacman, dig dug, tekken, and more~ thanks to namco aarcades made lot of money.
atari... well what can i say? ex4: atari/atari2600/and more~
square Co. made one of the best RPG game ever. like DQ FF super mario rpg and more!
sega.. well even tho they arent going to make anymore game systems they are still making some.... good games..... well they use to make some good games! like sonic for one!... and and and.... sonic! ... and thats it. (i know they made other great games but most people dont know them.... and it was a joke)
well ther eyou have it.... thats not all of them but just the ones that i wanted to point out.

Final Fantasy was amazing, especially 7. Madden is good, but it is the same. Mario and Zelda are classics that are fun for the whole family to enjoy. I also enjoyed Megaman. Also, another great is Contra.
