- during Earth's formation, asteroids and meteors likely delivered almost all of Earth's water
Beyond the solar system:
- gamma rays (cause genetic mutation)
- supernova (created the heavier elements that were incorporated into our solar system when it originally formed)

Because it is the source of the majority of the energy used by organisms.

If the impact of a large asteroid or comet some 65 million years ago hadn't happened, we wouldn't be here asking and answering questions.
The dinosaurs would most likely still have the majority of the votes on this planet.
