Depending on how detailed it is, it can give you a lot. Basic periodic tables list the element symbol, the element number (which is also the number of protons) atomic mass, element name.

In addition, the table (at least the modern ones) give you the electrons in the outer orbital and any partially-filled inner sub-orbital. Tables will also tell you the phase of state of the element at room temperature. The location in groups will give you an indication of the type of chemical reactions, and whether it forms ionic or covalent-bonded compounds.
