angle1 + angle2 = angle4 (do you see this?)

angle1 + angle2 + angle3 = 180
angle3 = 180 - angle4
if you combine them both, you get angle1 + angle2 = angle4

then...
27x - 4 + 11x + 4 = 50x - 48
27x + 11x - 50x = -48 +4 - 4
-12x = -48
x = 4
