Yes, I'm doing my own homework. I just can't figure out x*x*x=71 manually. It's a decimal with a bunch of numbers to the right og it.

To do a cube root on a standard calculator use the x^y key, which is on most scientific calculators, and raise the number the the 1/3.

Anytime you have to do a root, just raise it to the reciprocal exponent.

So a square root is just something raised to the 1/2

I got 4.1408177494228532500045188093197

You can round.

Hi, The key just above the divide key has two functions, the first function, x^y (the y is an exponent on the key and there's no carat sign), is for raising numbers to powers. The second function of that key, x√y, (the "x" is elevated on the calculator label) is for finding roots. Just enter the root, 3 in your case, then press 2nd, then the x^y button, then enter the number you want the root of and press the = key. Hope this helps. FE.

cuz the square root of 71 is 8.4261497718
cubed is 4.14081775. yeah shes right.. =p
