Never read it, but I know a bit about Frederick Douglass and have seen the movie.

Does the efficiency and mechanization of industrial societies work to devalue the individual? Why or why not?

How does this struggle between individuals and the needs of industry play out in the sentient machines of I, robot, and the slaves of the nineteenth century?
