And if so, why is that? Do you not ovulate if you are stressed? I know someone who tried to get pregnant for nearly two years while working full time but while not working after a couple of months fell pregnant.

I am not trying, I was just wondering for the future...and for a friend also.

People feel different levels of anxiety with different stressors. Those anxiety levels produce hormones that interfere with ovulation. Just because you appear to ovulate, doesn't mean an egg was actually released. In addition, elevated levels of some hormones prevent the embryo from attaching properly either due to not enough uterine lining, or a placenta that simply fails to grow.

Getting pregnant can be stressful in and of itself. It's true that if you are really stressed out then you may or may not ovulate. It doesn't have a HUGE difference but stress does take a toll on your body. If you're trying to get pregnant just have fun with it. It may take some time. Also, you don't want the sex to become routine and boring because you're stressing out about what time to do it and what positions are best.

Another point, sometimes we just won't ovulate one month. If you want to keep track of this I would recommend getting a BBT (Basal Body Thermometer) and start tracking your temps. It'll help you tell if you're ovulating or not as well as when the best time to have sex would be. WWW.FertilityFriend.com is a GREAT site to answer some tough questions as well as charting!

Yes, I think stress affects one's body in every way! From a biological standpoint, a long long time ago when a woman was going through a drought or a famine, or having a hard time finding shelter or a good mate, or her husband wasn't able to find any buffalo to hunt, she'd be pretty stressed out. It wouldn't be a good time for her to get pregnant, because a baby wouldn't survive too well in those circumstances. So, stress sends the body messages not to re-produce, because it's not safe.

Yes, stress affects hormones, hormones affect ovulation. Although you cant really say working full time, it would really depend on the person and the job.
