Sorry there is no photo.

Its a small (about the size of a pencil eraser) red spider with long segmented legs. It's red all over excepting for what appears to be some black banding around its abdomen part.

What is it...and is it poisonous? It startles me every morning, appearing near the sink.

I haven't caught, killed, or anything it because, frankly, I'd rather not disturb it unless its a) causing problems b) making an inconviently placed web...and because I try to avoid spiders. =D

http://www.termite.com/spider-identification.html this website may help, but if it's red and you live in the us; i doubt it is posinous. I see red spiders in my house sometimes...:)

There are a number of spiders that could fit your description. Try whatsthatbug.com No dangerous spider fits that description.

well since i havnt seen the spider myself i cant be sure but from what i know it doesnt sound poisonous but maney you could look at this site and see if you can find it www.bugguide.net
