Congress has simply been acting upon a Bush campaign promise made 7 years ago, and reaffirmed by Bush 7 months ago.

If conservatives want to place any blame, shouldn't it be on the President? (again!)

William. Sorry, so your saying that Bush would never put American lives at risk?
Obviously Turkey has a problem with the Kurds because America has been haboring a Kurdish terrorist network that has been making strikes on Turkish land, only to retreat back to Iraq where they are "safe".
Plus, your entire answer seems to be a long drawn out way of calling Bush a liar, but it's ok, right?

Tomorrow, Nancy Pelosi will attempt to pass a resolution condemning the genocide of the Armenian people. GWB's promise was to the Armenian/American people, what Nancy is proposing is directed directly at Turkey. The ONLY issue that I have is the timing of her resolution, at the moment Turkey is our ally, 70% of all our troop supplies (food, ammunition etc.) are staged in Turkey for distribution into Iraq.
If we piss off Turkey, they most likely will not allow us to use their country of our airbases and supply depots and put our soldiers into an even more dangerous situation. Fighting at the Turkey/Iraq border has already increased and it is likely to get a whole lot worse if the resolution continues and is passed.
Eight of the last nine Secretaries of State agree that this is not the right time, I see it as a political ploy to disgrace Bush and to force failure in the war, it is , in my opinion, a seditious act.

I don't know how old you are, but haven't you learned yet that campaign promises mean nothing? Politicians will say anything to win votes, and presumably Bush wanted the Armenian-American vote, just as the Democrats are trying to get it by pushing through this resolution. What counts is not what politicians promise, but what they do. Even Bush can see that passing this resolution would have grave consequences in relations with Turkey and may even cost a lot of American lives. Apparently the liberals would rather play politics.

Both sides are caving in to Turkey and the money we send to them from our tax dollars.
This issue is not a left or Right issue. Bush has turned out to more more left them many. He is working with the left to give amnesty and working to make this not the USA but mexi-America with the left.
So keep the facts right and on this issue it is not a left or right but a right and wrong.
Vote for HR 106 and call and e-mail the members of the house.

Yep, I read your little thing. My question is why didn't Clinton sign this resolution? Why didn't Tom Lantos support this resolution ten years ago? Why now? And there was nothing in there where Bush said that he would condemn Turkey (which didn't exist in 1915) for genocide in a resolution.

Liberals are simply reminding the world that prior to World War One there existed several million more Armenians then existed after WW1... gee what happened to these ancient peoples who dared to attempt to gain their freedom from a corrupt and useless government... Please watch what happens to the Kurdish population of Turkey...there is a history here!! and to the responder who said Turkey is our ally please do not think ANY middle eastern state is our ally they take us for everything we will give to them and then play us like a bass fiddle and I include EVERY country found in the middle east ......too many dead GI's and Tommies

Liberals are liars. They know exactly what they were attempting. The clueless tag alongs who recycle their garbage (you) may not be informed or intelligent enough to know you are all just useful idiots. You are just angry because once again the right people have won. Great Congress you got there sparky.

Relations with Turkey started to go sour when the US ignored their pleads not to invade Iraq because of the situation with the Kurds.
An independent Kurdistan threatens Turkey.
The Turks told the US many times that the invasion would lead to trouble for them and destabilize their border with Iraq, but the US chose to ignore them.
Place the blame where it lies.

Turkey had been protecting US interests in the Middle East and Europe. Thus, the Liberals should not make acts that would restrain relationship with the Turks.

in politics, it doesn't matter who is right & wrong. they blame each other, maybe to distract us from the real issues.
WHY is it that the only place we can learn of what's REALLY going on is from comedy shows like the daily show, and places like the onion?

they chose this time to sponser a resolution that insults one of our strongest allies. Bush called pelosi to request that this ill timed and ill advised resolution be withdrawn.
