Racism is discriminating somebody for who they are by nature by skin color! Now Lehmann and McGrath have abused Jayasurya in racist terms..calling him black and what not...It pales in comparison to "monkey chants"! Anybody can be a monkey, whats so racist about it? As far as I remember, Botham was called a "pig" and even now he is called "Beefy"...So is that racist? What is the deal here? Why is Symonds "upset'?

I think there is a hell lot of difference between a 'BLACK MONKEY' & just randomly calling someone 'MONKEY".

You haven't been here for a long time. There has been a huge discussion on this very topic & most people agree that it was not racism.

Calling a black person black is not racist. Perhaps insensitive but not racist. Calling a guy beefy is not racist as such because there are fat people in all races. Calling someone a monkey because of their race is, well stupid above all, racist second and just damned untrue (the guy is very intelligent and cultured) - particularly when it's said from behind a wire fence when you know the other person won't/ can't strike back.

Would ANY of these people walk up to Andrew Symonds alone and start jumping around making monkey noises. No? Then they are abusing their positions in the crowd and should be removed.

I on the other hand will always openly question Muralidaran's action ON HIS DOOSRA only. The ICC never made him bowl one of those in their tests and that is what Darryl Hair correctly called as a no-ball. It was Darryl who got labelled a racist because that's how it works! If Phil Tufnell or Shane Warne bowled like that I'd say the same about and to them.

Calling a chucker a chucker is not racist.

Andrew Symonds is the only member of the current Australian team belonging to a diff race, so he might feel he is kind of singled out when called donkey/monkey, that could be a issue of racism,

Racism or not, its bad on the part of few spectators to have subjected such insults on a visiting team member,

McGrath and Lehmann and many other Aussies have often termed the Sri Lankans as BLACK C*NTS. When Sri Lanka objected, they said they were acting childish and need to get over it.

And now just because the Aussies are being subjected to some bad days, they term a monkey chant as racism? Absolutely pathetic.

When it was their team doing it, it was fine. Just because someone leveled up with them, its suddenly become racist? What crap !!!

Aussie fans called Panesar a "bloody Hindu". But the Aussies said its "a part of the game". Aussie fans called Ntini a "kafeer". But the Aussies said there's "nothing wrong" with it. Now just because they have been outsmarted, they claim racial abuse?

Crap.

Symonds is over-reacting. He needs to learn to behave himself before giving other people lessons on how to behave.

The truth is that they'd like to use more racist names but by using substitute words even though they may not be racist as such the undertone meaning when used is still being racist.

The people that use these are indeed racist and have no sense of good sportsmanship at all.
They only go to these sports to deal out racist remarks indirectly.

People should be good enough to each team for their worth as to how they play or they shouldn't attend. Both teams should always be treated fairly no matter what.

Different words are interpreted differently in different countries. Maybe in Australia the monkey thing is taken offensively. The Indian crowd were just trying to heckle Symonds, I don't really thing anyone intended it to be racist.

Symonds, just wanted his two minutes of fame in the media, I think.

Black human beings could desire to end residing interior the previous what's executed is done and in the event that they desire to proceed to experience like we owe them some thing possibly that's a holiday returned to their African land! Then there would not be a undertaking with being mistreated via fact they're black it relatively is the only element they are in a position to apply to get any the place in life and that i do no longer mean all black human beings via fact there are some who make some thing of themselves by utilising subject selves. basically the black people who get indignant or take great element approximately being a minority while extremely the white human beings have become a minority. black human beings will make a racist out of each and each individual to learn sympathy and that's pathetic!

Pig has referred to a persons living habits as far as cleanliness, eating too much or the male chauvinist behavior. Beefy has been used in reference to a persons muscles and the size of said muscles. Monkey is an old racist term to describe someone of African heritage. Donkey is an odd term I havent heard much but it refers to Hispanics.

I call my son Monkey Boy from when he was an active toddler, he is white and native American.

Just shut up about it. Whatever happened in the past happened, the players also suffered the consequences for their actions. So what is the point of belabouring a point that was anyway brought up by a group of Indians who were shocked by another group's behaviour?

Calling someone with names as donkey/monkey/pig could also be showering affection showing brotherhood.
