I like the plastic stuff, it holds up better.
Don't worry about pressure treated lumber. They don't use arsenic any more, so unless you have a stockpile of pressure treated wood that's about 10 years old or more, feel free to use it for edging. Anything you buy now is safe to use with any plants. Just to be sure, check with the lumberyard to make sure the wood isn't CCA treated, but ACQ or MCQ.

My younger brother has a huge garden where he grows a lot of his own food. He has borders from Home Despot that are those bendable board stuff. Not quite plastic, but not wood either. It seems to work.

We use the pound-in rubber/plastic edging and love it. It holds water in place and there is no run off. Looks good too. We buy ours at WalMart in the spring when we need more.

What ever is less expensive, and attractive enough for you. However, do NOT use pressure treated wood for edible plants, as the wood is impregnated with arsenic. Good luck.
