logically- if in America banks, AMERICAN GOVORNMENTAL INSTITUTIONS, hospitals, you name it all have a "push 1 for english" option.
then perhaps taco bell SHOULD have a push 1 for spanish option.
strange as it sounds, i agree with this poster- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuXlG5dU9EJJrn814BUU82_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071017181125AA8gNov&show=7#profile-info-5BOUFS1haa

my point is- if banks, schools, U.S. govornmental offices, al cater to spanish, chinese, etc.
Then isn't odd that taco bell only caters to non-spanish speaking people? it's like a reverse equal opportunity.

I'm Mexican-American...I don't find it offensive that Taco Bell doesn't have a spanish option. People need to learn English no matter what their ethnicity is...we are in America.
I work in a high school and the parents are always furious & gossiping about how my boss is "Hispanic" and doesn't know Spanish. She's white and adopted by a Chicano family & has an Hispanic last name. It makes me want to tell them "Why don't you learn English..you're the one who came to this country?"
BTW, Taco Bell isn't real Mexican food..eewww...

How often does a person actually need to call Taco Bell though? There's always a manager on duty who can usually handle any problem right then and there...(which usually results in FREE FOOD!). Who cares? They usually have at least one Spanish speaking cashier....However, it does piss me though, that everything has to be catered to Spanish when no other country in the world would dare cater to so many folks bustin' into their country, many illegally, the way the U.S. has. Frankly, I'm sick of reading Spanish on the backs and fronts and entrances to everything. I heard they have to learn English within three years of getting here...I sure hope that's true, cuz the U.S. has stupidly bent over backwards for this whole situation.

Taco Bell is mexican inspired not, real mexican food. They say it themselves! Restaurants like El Pollo Loco which started by an Hispanic, makes sense that they have signs and such in Spanish.
Now for the link you have on here, If your going to complain about things. First educate yourself, instead of asking a question so stupidly. It's misspelled in 2 languages.

Well meaning people tried to help non English speaking folks by adding this prompt to their phone service! Unfortunately, like most things in life, this only encouraged people to push the envelope, DEMANDING that more things go their way!! Well, now they pissed off everybody!!! I have lived in America for 59 years, my family came from Denmark, no one made signs in Danish, or spoke Danish on the phone! We learned the language because this was where we wanted to be, and they spoke English. If we had to speak Danish, Well, I guess we would have to go back to Denmark!!! I am not going to learn Spanish, just because a bunch of folks from down south, refuse to do what every other immigrant to this country has had to do to live here!!! You are no better than any one else!!! Get with the program, or go back where you can speak Spanish all you want!!!

If you are dealing with a private company I think they have a right to offer their services in any language they want, even Klingon or Esperanto if they want to. If it really bothers you, no one forces you to shop there. By the way, Taco Bell does not serve true Mexican food. If you want good Mexican food the best can usually be found in little hole-in-the-wall family run restaurants.

:You are so mixed up! The term "racist" applies to the so-called races, such as black, white, red, yellow and brown, so Mexicans cannot claim racism; it is ridiculous, to that point I agree. Let's face it, there are millions of people living in the U.S. of German descent; there is no "German option". There are millions from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Japan, China, the Philippines, but the only language option is Spanish. So, if there is any discrimination, it is a bias for the Spanish speaking people.
And, if people want to live in America, they should learn English (with exceptions made for seniors and certain others).

Some institutions are required by law to provide services in multiple languages. Private businesses decide for themselves whether there is a large enough customer base to invest in multi-lingual services. If a private business chooses not to, they risk alienating a segment of customers; if they choose to provide "press 1", they risk alienating another segment of customers -- that's the free market.
