I don't know. The Yankee fans booed him without mercy in 2006, and he still had a good year...just not his typical good year....even though he played like an MVP this year.....I don't know if he's gotten past what happened in 2006.

That to me might make him want to opt out, just so he can get out of NYC.

If he does opt out of his deal.....there are only a few teams that could possibly handle 30-32 million a year that he probably will be getting.

That would be theese teams, The Chicago Cubs, Boston RedSox, LA Dodgers, LA Angels, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, and the San Fransisco Giants. I don't see anyone else getting involved with the Arod chase....at all. No matter what though, if the Yankees don't keep arod..they will go after Mike Lowell and then upgrade in RF and at 1B with the money they save not having Arod around. They may go after 1 starter as well....with Clemans probably not coming back to the Yankees.....I just don't see them relying on Mussina, Pettite, Wang and Hughes alone. Some have mentioned that Joba Chamberlain would make a good starter...but to do that means keeping Mariano Rivera around and signing more bullpen help, or they could just sign another starter instead. I think Mussina is done actually....probably off into retirement....but who knows....everytime people were ready to write him off before, he came back stronger than ever it seemed like.

I could see an innings eater like Livan Hernandez or someone who tends to be clutch in the playoffs like Curt Schilling in NYC next year wearing the pinstrips if they do sign a starter.

You never can tell though with the Yankees...they might bring Arod back.....or Arod could stay with the team.....you just never know what will happen.

People keep saying he is asking for 300 million over 10 years, I don't know where they keep getting this 300 million from, I heard Boras say in an interview 400 - 500 million over 10 years, so it's not 30 million a year he asking for it's 40 - 50 million, and at that asking price the Yankees are the only team that can afford him, not even other big market teams can afford to pay 40 million a year, 30 million is even a stretch for the other big market teams, but at 40 million it leaves only the Yankees.

The rangers pay about 35% the Yanks pay 65% or in $'s the Rangers pay less then 10 million, NOT 20 million like you stated in your question, the Yanks pay about 18 million of his 27+ million salary.

He should leave for 2 reason:
1) He has great offensive numbers, probably the best in baseball, esspecialy this past year, even though he has the worst post season record in baseball history, but as a 3rd baseman he is good but not great. But, he is a postion player, and to win ball games you need pitching and defense NOT offense. So the Yanks will do far better with a better defenseive 3rd baseman or even equal to him, and bats only say .275 witch is average nothing impressive, and use the 20 million they pay him to pay for pitching, pitching, and more pitching.

2) These big contracts have to stop, it's too expensive to see a ball game today, and if the Yanks or any team give him what Boras is asking, what will a ticket cost $100 a soda $20 a hot dog $40.

I am a die hard yankee fan but arods career can be at its best if he goes with the Cubys but considering money issues there is a good chance arod will be staying with the yankees but if the yankees were smart they would Try to get Soriano, Ramirez, Or Lee from the cubs

I think he will stay where else is he going to go to compete foe a world series every year. Granted there are a few teams who do but The Yankees are the favorites every year no matter what. He is the best there is so why would he not want to stay with the best franchise there is it is a perfect fit.

No matter what agent Scott Boras thinks, his client has few options. The Angels may be interested and there are rumors about the Cubs, but the latter isn't happening with the club on the market. A-Rod may be like Barry Bonds from a few years back.....has a nice pen in hand and no team willing to toss a paper on the desk with eight-figures in the salary space.

I think at the end of the day and after all the drama and suspense, he will stay.
He's said he wants to be there at the opening of the new Yankee Stadium in 2008.
But if he goes, I hope it's to Anaheim.

I think Alex should think with his heart and not his accountant. He has enough cash now, go to the team where he would be most comfortable and where he thinks they can win.
He doesn't need to demand top dollar again... i would be looking for a team with a good starting rotation who could spend money on pitching, not blowing half their payroll on one player, yes he is A-Rod but its a team game. the yankees have terrible pitching and are going backwards just throwing money at anyone.
I would go to the angels but not for so much money... your salary could help buy that good relief pitcher

Knowing Scott Boras he will definately opt out and try to score a longer deal. Probably with a team that has money to spare like the Red Sox or the Angels, even though they said they won't go after him. It wouldn't surprise me if the Yanks went back on their word and resigned him after he opts out just to keep him away from Boston though.
