I think religion IS myth and superstition.

There are differences between myths and superstitions.

Myths tend to be stories that can teach us things about human nature, virtue, and so forth. Just because we don't believe in ancient gods doesn't mean the stories are invalid. (Take the myth of Syssiphus for example.)

Superstitions are irrational beliefs and behaviors. Being afraid of walking under ladders for example is a superstition.

Religion serves the same purpose that old mythology served. It teaches us what is expected of us from our society and culture.

Many parts of the Old and New Testament are rejected by our modern societies because they have outmoded/outdated ideas about how men and women should behave.

On the other hand, The Bible can be relevant in the sense that it has stories we can use to teach us about morality and behavior. (Take the concept of unconditional love that Jesus preached about. Does it matter if Jesus was real or a mythological figure? What matters is the relevance of his teachings today. We really could use more love in the world.)

Now, I'll add one last thing to consider.

I've determined that there are two kinds of truth; an objective and a subjective truth.

Science shows us objective truths. (Things that can be verified.)

Religion/myth teaches us subjective truths. (Things that teach us what is valued in our culture. Love, patience, and forgiveness are virtues. They're also subjective truths. Subjective truths are debatable because there is no absolute morality, but we believe and have faith in our cultural standards.

Subjective reality is metaphysical. As such, it's not something that can be proven in a science class. Morality / Metaphysics is not objective.)

Hope that helps.

Not really religion is basically the foundation of science.
In order for an evolved species to achieve a world filled with scientific explanations they must first go through the separation from the reality they slowly will grow into.
Its not like all of mathematics and science just appeared it was developed, and because of this lots of men and women of the past were dreadfully lost in translation.
Just like you and are our in the attempt to answer the question; what brought about the universe?

Many religions are based on myth and superstition, it's being able to separate them from what actually is the base form.Chritianity began in it's purest form with christ, but over time it became contaminated with pagan superstition.Like many religions of today, it has been tampered with, and twisted to suit the moral outlook of each generation.

RELIGION that practices blind faith , indeed does follow the tenents of myth & superstition!

THE RELIGION OF THE Bible that advocates this definition of faith, which is based on validated historical testimony is another matter:

(Hebrews 11:1) . . .Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.

--SUCH FAITH is also practiced by scientists that rely on scientific principles of the true sciences, thus the understanding of invisible forces , like gravity, have been improved on as science discovers the hidden properties of such forces!

Religious rites often come from superstitions. Sometimes rites, chosen for other reasons, give rise to superstitions.
