I wash mine with oxi-clean every month.

I've had leakage twice in one year: both times I didn't make sure it was secure and I had to adjust it. It was messy.

I was scared too. I had to cut the bottom part because it was too long. I learned to use it though. You just have to patient.

I do not work for Diva Cup. I just love the concept: no extra trash, knowing exactly what my body is doing!

I wanted to stop using tampons because I was suffering from yeast infections very often. I am much better now.

I LOVE mine, although I got it through the Keeper Cup website. I've used it for about 10 years now and never really had any problems with it.
I used to have terrible cramps, even with narcotic grade pain relievers. I don't know if it was really the tampons causing the problem or not, but I was able to immediately quit taking any prescription painkillers once I got the Cup.
In fact, I forget that I'm on my period when using the cup. I bleed really heavily, but as long as I remember to empty it every morning and every night...no leakage problems.

It's the one "beauty" item I use that I would absolutely never ever give up.

They are safe and effective. No problems have been found with them. There are a few cases of yeast infections, but no TSS. They've been around off and on since the 40's. As a nurse, I highly recommend them, especially for younger women.

I've been very curious about these. It's a great concept though I'd be worried about leakage. I'll keep an eye on the answers to your question...

Tried it years ago, hated it, could never get it in right, and it always hurt to put it in, and it leaked. I'll stick with tampons and pantyliners.

And thankfully now that I'm on the pill my periods are so light that a rarely actually fill up a tampon, even the juniors.

Oh and the diva cup for me leaked like crazy, guess cause I never got it in right, but I followed directions and tried different ways, it still didn't work for me.

It looks interesting but umm kinda big? Is the diva cup more difficult to insert or take out than tampons..or different? Does it over flow?

Edit Thanks so much for the info Emily :) .. nice to know both the benefits and the problems it may have :)

I use Instead Soft Cups. I like that they're disposable. You're not supposed to, but I admit that sometimes I'll wash them out and re-use them...I can usually get by with 2 or 3 per cycle.

I've heard of them but never wanted to try them. That's because I remember my experiences when I tried using a cervical cap as a contraceptive device years ago. It wasn't difficult to insert but it was next to impossible to remove. One thing I did not realize was how they trap secretions behind them and they can come gushing out when the cap is removed. It's really messy and I think it's probably even worse with one of these cups.

i think of they are disgusting. you need to sell off the blood out and boil them to sanitize them. i do no longer care what the information superhighway internet site says, there is not any way those styles of things could be hygienic. some issues are in basic terms meant to be thrown away.

My God, I had one of those years ago. I thought they were taken off the market because of TSS. Glad you're happy with it. I just remember they stained easily.

The women's centre at my university offers them, but I'd never use them. I'll stick to pads.
