If youre told to plot a graph of temp. as a function of volume, does it mean temp. is the dependent variable?

and volume is therefore the independent variable?
Im trying to determine which will go on the x-axis and which on the y.

T = f(V). T is the y. V is the x.

"temp as a function of volume" means
f(x)=something(x) where x is the volume.

So, Y is the temperature, the dependent variable and X is the volume, the independent variable.
