Easy current example. Global warming is caused by CO2 from automobiles. Group consensus is that this is fact. Actually the co2 data and temperature data are poor fits. A more accurate correlation exists between solar output and global warming. Ask any astronomer and they will tell you that all of the plantets in our solar system are experiencing "global warming" due to these changes in solar output. A less recent example that you might propose should your teacher be one of the brainwashed groupthinkers on this matter is the idea that the earth was the center of the universe. This was very popular and supported by the church for a very long time. Galileo was excommunicated because of his belief that the earth circled the sun. He later recanted to avoid being executed for heresy.

The Spanish American War. The Hearst papers fanned the flames of war by insisting the USS Maine was sunk by the Spanish when in then was not the truth at all. But the majority bought it. A war based on manufactured truth. Sound familiar?

Or, you could easily use America post-civil rights. Martin Luther King was a powerhouse the likes of which this country had never seen before, who spoke out against majority America and rightfully won.

Use segregation.
