I can't believe the answers you are getting on this.I know lots of people who are very beautiful and they will find some fault with their self. I have been told I am pretty, but I certainly don't want any compliments from anyone. I wouldn't believe them even if they swore on a million Bibles. I don't even know how to take a compliment. They make me very uncomfortable.I have a low self esteem that I have been working on for years. I still don't see what other people see. I even had plastic surgery because of my insecurity. I have never told many people this. There may be some people out there that are fishing for compliments, but let me tell you when they are doing this you know it immediately because of the way they act. Most certainly if you spend alot of time around them. People that are truly insecure about their looks, you will know it. It's like anorexia-you don't see what others see. It's so hard to see yourself thin even when everyone is telling you that you are fine and not fat.You truly don't believe it no matter what anyone says. It's really all a matter of Self Esteem, anorexia a matter of Self Control and Power.

Society believes beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Maybe they have low self esteem due to being a late bloomer in life. Maybe they have serious psychological issues that keep them from facing reality.
Or maybe they are only putting on a show to gain more attention by acting as if they truly believe they are unattractive.
Whatever the case might be, to each is own.
I believe I'm average in the looks department, but then again I'm modest. I've never once said I was ugly or hideous, but I've mentioned part of my anatomy that I wish I could change the appearance of.

Don't know what the reason is. It's apparently in the eye of the beholder. I'm told I'm beautiful, yet when I look in the mirror I think I'm ugly. As long as I look beautiful to the man in my life, I guess it doesn"t matter what I think about myself. All that matters is that someone thinks I'm beautiful. And just being told this makes you feel beautiful. I'm not fishing for a compliment on my looks, I can see that men like my looks whenever I go shopping. Men are always looking at me. It bothers me, I feel uncomfortable. I do not like being looked at while I shop. I do like my man to tell me how beautiful he thinks I am, even if I dissagree. The most important thing is that you like yourself, no matter what you look like. You may not look beautiful to yourself, but to someone else you are!!!

Look at the iconic standard our media motivated society sets. These perfectly made up specimen are everywhere all day long. It causes us to see the features that make us individuals as flaws. If we had only the people in real life to view, our personal image would rate higher on the scale.

For one of two reasons, people look at themselves typically more than anyone else and know themselves better so therefore they see all of the flaws someone else might not notice upon just seeing them. Or the other reason being they just want attention and want people to tell them how good they look.

some people say "ugh im so ugly." just so that they can hear somebody be like "omg ru kidding?! ur gorgeous"
but other ppl actually do think their ugly even tho their not, because of all the images of the perfect looking people in magazines that are all edited, and soo fake. Ughh that bugs me so much. no wonder so many people are anorexic.

Some people are to self conscious, and afraid to believe they are.
Or they'll find an excuse like if someone says I'm pretty online, I think it doesn't matter, I have no clue who they are.
If it's a friend, I think she's my friend she has to say that.
If it's a a guy I think it's some joke...the list goes on
lol

alot of people who are beautiful people tell people they are ugly because the need/want to hear other people tell them, "you are so wrong, you are beautiful". most people who need to hear that they are beautiful are not happy with them selfs. they think that the only thing they have in life is their beauty. so when they are down on them selves or on their lives they need someone to tell them that they are good or beautiful to feel up again. it's similar to the people who hate on other people to make them selves feel better. i hope that helps. i have delt with some pretty crappy people in my day. they are misserable in their own lives, so they need reasurance. take care.

They are not confident in themselves. There is nothing wrong, everybody sees flaws with their own selves.
Confidence issue, and/ or they want to hear that they are handsome/ pretty from other people.
