Have used Windows Office for a long while and want to try something else new..the files compatibility issues leave me a little dubious about changes though.

the best office package for free is open office 2 it is a linux package that runs under windows XP. it has everything office 2007 has,,, and you can save and read, files in ms format, and every other format you wish,, plus it is more secure than windows office.. you can check that out by reading online reports from pc magazines..like pc world their report grade on open office 2 9/10 and it is free to put on any system you want to,,,

Try Open Office.... handles everything that MS Office does using a smaller package and I have never had compatability issues with it....
