I am doing an English discussion called Morality in America. I have to find sources and gain insight about what America considers "moral." Either today, the future, or the past will work.

If you have an answer referring to another source, PLEASE include the source!!

Thanks!

Sex inside marriage or committed relationship is moral now. In the 60s it was sex that didn't hurt anybody. Before that it was only married people that were moral to have sex.

I have been around a few more decades than most.

It seems complicated actually. The moral ideal seems to be to wait until marriage to have sex. But the overwhelming majority of people do not wait until marriage. And if you are a virgin past your college aged years, you will be considered a weirdo by most people. There's also the double standard between the sexes, whereby men are congratulated for having many sexual conquests but women are held in contempt for it. And there's the media that is flooded with examples overt sexuality and promiscuity, which many people aspire too, especially younger people. But they're still supposed to wait until they're married, unless they want to be considered normal socially by having sex.

Sexually, America is a hypocritical mess. So I just follow my own sexual morals, which are pretty simple. Sex is a natural urge, but can also lead to negative consequences, so when you indulge try to be selective and, unless you want to reproduce, use a condom.

Sex is between a man and woman only in marraige. The Bible is very clear. Somehow America has forgotten that but I don't think God has. Think about how many Sexually transmitted diseases there are today. HIV of course is a killer but there are a bunch more.

Everyone is different and most people I know would say wait until you're in love or you're married.
