I keep getting these emails from no one I even know. Then they keep coming, and coming, and coming. I asked someone what the heck was going on, how did these people get my freaking email? They just said it had something to do with gmail. I really, really, REALLY, don't want to get these emails anymore. Someone tell me what's going on and how do I prevent it. Please. Please.

That is called Spam and you will need a spam filter. This spam is the result of the cookies that put on your computer as you surf the internet, this allows the person at the other end know what you are surfing and send you the stuff you download from that site. To kills these tracking cooklies, get NoAdware, it will only cost you a one time fee, then you can get those bugs out of there.

Some companies that host your e-mail service usually sell your address on to a third party, and so on. Other companies, spyware and bots can collect addresses from mails that you or your friends send that don't have the BCC field option on.
