Oh, I'm sorry for your loss.
That's crazy, when I saw the subject, I was going to answer that I don't have one, but my sister and I promised each other that we were going to get matching tattoos with the Chinese symbol for sister!

I am 53, I used to want tattoos except I was afraid of my parents even more than I was afraid of needles.
So NOW I am 53.....
My skin that was smooth and tight is saggy and wrinkled and getting worse every 10 years or so
I still like tattoos, but I picture the rose bud on my Butt opening as the skin sags to a fully open rose and then the petals dropping along with the muscles in my thys.
Or maybe the butterfly cocoon on my tight tummy, cracking open and expanding with each childbirth until a butterfly hatches out, mated,and DIES much like my aging drying skin.
Not to mention I live in a small town in Massachusetts.
The Undertaker in town went to school and was my sons best friend. Now He is 29/30 and I am 53, If I die with tattoos then Dennis will see them!!!!!!!!!!! AAAUUUUGH!!!!
I helped raise that kid!!!!

No tattoos, they sag and fade with age, STOP NOW.
Or take a summer Job in a Nursing Home, then you will believe me!

I have one and the only one I will ever have. It is of a flying pig! Pink with wings flying over a cloud. IT HURT!!!! It is on my right shoulder. I love it but will never do it again. I have wanted one long before they became a "thing". My husband told me NO! He told me I could get one " When Pigs Fly" One day he gave me his approval. I called my friend the very next day and she asked me what I would get. She told me to make sure I get something meaningful. I thought about the love bird I lost but did not want a bird. I collect pigs so that was the reason for the pig. But then I remembered what he said about "When Pigs fly" and that is the REST OF THE STORY...
( sorry about your sister, it's nice you honor her in that way)

Some tattoos are for personal reasons. Like for instance, your child's initials. They are a part of you and nothing can ever change that. Now I wouldn't get a spouses or girlfriends/boyfriends initials tattooed simply because of breakups and/or divorces. As to other types of tattoos, I guess it's to each his own. If you want a tattoo of a horse, eagle, things like that, by all means go for it.

1st one "My Way" A memento to my grandfather, the way I live my life and its a great Frank Sinatra song 2. Chinese symbol for strength im 6'7" 300 lbs I'm built better then ford tough, also I designed the tribal for it, got it because my friend was apprenticing. 3. Japanase Kanji saying "The King" as its a nickname I've had for years 4. Cthulhu because when he wakes up its the end of the world.

Yes, I have tattoos.
My first is a pair of toe shoes, because I was a ballet dancer for years and years and also I am a lover of fine arts.
My second is my zodiac sign with the signs of my children around it. Why? Because I love my kids and I wanted to represent them. Their signs are each done in the color of their baby blankets! (pink, blue, and green)

I have one,chinese for sincere,because I am....did it when I left home, the rebellious streak came out. Tatoos should mean something or what's the point.

i have many. i love tats a lot and all but one that i have is my own artwork.
1. dragon holding a yinyang- much like your first one
2. my bros name, he died when i was young- like you i understand that
3. guitar covered in flames- my passion for music
4. water sunami symbol- i believe that water is the greatest element ever to exist
5. something i added to my leg with my bros name, some things that have inspired me and remind me of him.
6. im getting it this sat, its gonna be a portrait of my bro, it will hold great meaning to me!
