Im asking about my mother....17 years ago, she gave my sister a fat lip and they charged her with child abuse, but she wants to get a job at a daycare and she's afraid it will show up on a child abuse clearance

It doesn't matter if it happened 1 month ago or 25 years ago, the department of health and human services keeps it on record, but I do not believe they have the system then that they do now so it may not show up. It really depends on how organized the system is and how far it really does go back. I find it likely though that it will show up and I don't think she would be a person I would feel comfortable with watching my children if I had them. I personally would have a field day with her, especially if she hit one of my children. The daycare center would have a lawsuit on their hands like they would not believe because when I become a parent I will be the only one who is allowed to discipline my children and it will likely not be any type of corporal punishment.

Was she convicted? Is there a misdemeanor record?

When you are live scanned (finger printed) it scans the Child Abuse Index, The FBI Database and the Department of Justice database.

Not Social Service records unless LEGAL COURT action was taken. Then it will show up.

If it was just social services intervening for family supoort or whatnot theres nothing to worry about b/c it won't show up.

(I work with abused children as well as having been a pre school teacher before.)

If your sister remembers it vividly to this day and comes forward with it, this may very well hinder your mother's chances.

If she did this to her own kid what would stop her from doing it to someone else's? This woman has no business even thinking she should be there!!!
