Questions get removed when someone reports it as against the rules. For example if you ask what the time is you will probably get 50 answers. That question serves no purpose. It is chatting. How could it be of any use in someone's research?

Now, do you like broccoli is a survey. It does serve a purpose. What percent of those who respond like broccoli?

Probably because what you asked was so rude or nasty or inappropriate that it provoked people to lash out at you. It has nothing to do with the topic being popular, but with you pissing people off and making them respond to you.
Now, I don't know what the question was, but I can assure you that if it was bad enough to be removed, then you don't need to worry about it.

They don't...unless the question is violation notice worthy...I asked if people like broccoli today & it got 69 answers...it's not deleted yet...I've had a question w/74 answers, I asked that one a long time ago & it didn't get delted...

Must be the questions your asking....
