Raised Victory Gardens--Bought War Bonds--Participated in Scrap Metal drives donating their Pots-Pans and other items in these drives so they could be melted down into steel for the use of War Materials. They attended various other drives as well. Many Hollywood Stars such as John Wayne and others made war films. Also Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland toured the country on War Bond drives and blood drives to get the public out and show their Patriotism and donate to the War Effort My Mom who was born in 1924 said the women even turned in the Nylon Stockings at drives for them to be turned into Parachute Material!!! Alot of American families showed Patriotism by Joining the Service of their choice and not waiting to be Drafted.
