You all fell for my trick question. I said American presidents, not US presidents. Doesn't Mexico and other American countries have presidents too?

Actually that was not a trick question. The name America is synonymous with the United States because the full name of our country is The United States of America. People in all countries know that if you ask about anything American you are speaking of the US. Mexico is not an "American" country, technically it is located in the region we call Central America. The other countries you are alluding to are located on a continent called South America.

the answer is 53 american presidents. other countries do not count, because you must be a president of a country, and the USA is the only country referred to as america. don't try to be tricky with grammar, when you are not literate. anyway, there were 10 american presidents under the articles of confederation, and 43 under the constitution

Most will say 43; however, Cleveland had two non-consecutive terms, so to be exact, it would be 42.
